Fatal motorcycle accident in Mesa

Drivers in Arizona notice the various vehicles traveling on the road. All year long, resident will witness motorcyclists enjoying a ride on the roadways all across the state. Although this can be a safe form of transportation, hobby or enjoyment, riding a motorcycle can have some risks and dangers. These small vehicles can easily go unnoticed when they are in a motorist’s blind spot or when they are approaching an intersection. A driver who is not properly paying attention or fails to double check before maneuvering between lanes or making a turn could cause a motorcycle accident.

Authorities in Mesa recently responded to a motorcycle crash that involved a motorcyclist and an automobile. The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. near Ellsworth Road and Baseline Road. According to preliminary repots, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Ellsworth Road when they collided with a car that was turning west onto Baseline Road.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities stated that the motorist did not seem impaired at the time of the crash. The cause is not clear at this time, and this fatal motorcycle crash is still under investigation.

In an accident like this, if a motorist is negligent and collides with a motorcycle and kills the motorcyclist, they could face criminal penalties and civil liabilities. The loved ones of the deceased motorcyclist could file a wrongful death claim. This could result in an award of compensation that would go towards funeral expenses, lost wages, damages and pain and suffering.
