Arizona Garbage Truck Crashes and Injuries

There are numerous garbage and recycling truck and waste disposal companies in the Valley, including trucks owned by governmental entities, Waste Management, Republic Services Inc, and many more businesses.

When there is negligent driving serious injuries and fatalities may occur. The weight, size and speed of the trucks, along with handling difficulties and lack of visibility make these vehicles dangerous to other motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Common causes of garbage truck collisions also include inattentive and distracted driving, disregard of traffic signs, unsafe and frequent backing and stopping, unsafe lane changes, excessive speed in residential neighborhoods, inability to slow down quickly enough, and blind spots.

On February 6, 2014 a crash occurred between a City of Phoenix waste management truck and a motorcycle. The garbage truck was exiting a private driveway near Deer Valley Road and Cave Creek Road when the driver failed to yield, the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries.

When a governmental entity or employee is negligent then the Arizona Notice of Claim requirements must be satisfied.
