Top Ten Crash Intersections in Phoenix

Based upon data from the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Arizona Republic has identified the top 10 intersections with the most crashes in Phoenix in 2013.

The intersections include the following:

• 67th Avenue and McDowell Road

• 59th Avenue and Thomas Road

• 75th Avenue and Indian School Road

• 67th Avenue and Indian School Road

• 27th Avenue and Camelback Road

• 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road

• 35th Avenue and Camelback Road

• 67th Avenue and Thomas Road

• 27th Avenue and Glendale

• 32nd Street and McDowell Road

The intersections with the highest number of crashes are within the central and west sections of Phoenix, and generally have wide roadways. These areas are often near large apartment complexes, high density areas, and schools.

Recently, I represented a client who suffered injuries in two crashes, each was on 67thAvenue, neither collision was her fault. The wrecks were two months apart!

Another location of concern for collisions is 19th Avenue in Phoenix, where the Metro Light Rail is being extended, between Dunlap Avenue and Bethany Home Road. There are ongoing and confusing lane changes and closures, and heavy traffic, every day, as a result of the continuing construction.

Unfortunately, pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and other drivers are often victims of negligent drivers, drivers who are speeding, or not paying attention. Some drivers may be impaired. Some drivers may be distracted, who are texting or talking on their cell phones. Serious accidents and injuries and fatalities may occur as a result of such inattention.
