Negligent driver kills motorcyclist and injures another driver

Unlike in other states, Arizona drivers usually witness motorcyclists traveling on the roadway year-round, and can expect to share the roads with them even in the cooler months. Although local drivers expect to see these vehicles driven on the roads, it is always important to take extra precaution. This means that drivers should double check before maneuvering between lanes. Motorcycles are small in size and can often go undetected by the average driver. Furthermore, drivers should keep a safe distance from motorcyclists in case they lose control of their bikes. This way they could avoid a tragic collision with the motorcyclist.

Glendale Police Officers recently responded to a fatal motorcycle crash. The accident occurred around 7 p.m. near the intersection of 67th Avenue and Missouri Avenue. According to preliminary reports, the motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle, which did not stop after the collision. In addition to striking the motorcyclist, the vehicle also crashed into a second vehicle on 67th Avenue.

Following the second collision, the driver stopped and witnesses of the accidents chased down the suspect, and held him down until police arrived at the scene. Police arrested the driver and suspect that impairment could be a factor in the accidents.

The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident and the person in the second struck vehicle suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. The negligent driver in this case could face civil liabilities in addition to criminal charges. The loved ones of the deceased motorcyclist could file a wrongful death claim in order to recover compensation for funeral costs, lost wages, damages and pain and suffering. The injured driver could file a personal injury suit in order to recover the costs of medical bills, damages and pain and suffering.

A negligent driver can cause tremendous risks on the roadway. This could result in an accident that seriously injures or kills another driver. Those affected by a negligent driver should understand their options to recover compensation for the expense associated with the accident.
