Motorcycle accident kills two Arizona prison employees

Although many Arizona drivers utilize the road to get to and from destinations, some will take to the road for pure enjoyment. Motorcyclists who ride their bikes for fun and as a hobby often do this. In Arizona, motorcyclist can be seen year round, so drivers should always be aware of these small vehicles. Due to their size, they can go unnoticed by other motorists. If a driver does not check their blind spots or double check their mirrors before making a turn or a lane change, they could cause a motorcycle accident.

Sheriff’s officials in Maricopa County were recently called to a fatal motorcycle crash in Tolleson. According to reports, two Arizona prison employees were traveling on a motorcycle when they collided with a tractor-trailer. Preliminary reports indicate that the tractor-trailer was turning onto the road from a private drive when the crash occurred.

In addition to being struck by the massive truck, the motorcyclists were also run over by three passing vehicles causing their bodies to be dragged on the roadway. Both were pronounced dead. No injuries were reported to the truck driver. Officials stated that it is too soon to determine whether charges or citation will be issued. Investigation is ongoing at this time.

When a driver fails to yield to other drivers or does not properly look before making a turn or lane change they could be found negligent. A negligent driver could face liabilities for the deaths, injuries and damages that resulted. Following a fatal accident, the loved ones of he deceased could file a wrongful death claim. This could result in compensation to help cover funeral expenses, lost wages, damages and pain and suffering.

The loss of a loved one can be a very difficult event to cope with. Going through the lengthy investigation process could even make the difficult time even harder. During this time it is important that loved ones understand their options and rights so they can determine if filing for compensation is appropriate.
